In Issue 556, the Blizzard of 2020 may just have happened late last week but as the copious amounts of snow begin to rapidly melt harbingers of spring abound - the birds are chirping, green plant shoots are emerging from the earth, Maple trees have been tapped and colorful sap buckets hang from their trunks. Another welcome sign of spring, especially for Purple Martin lovers, will be the new digs recently installed at the Bayfield Harbour by volunteers. This project is the subject of this week’s photo story.

In Issue 553, we are sorry to report, for those that didn’t secure tickets, that the Soup’s On event at the Bayfield Town Hall has sold out well in advance of the event date (Feb. 16), however, Valentine’s Day and Family Day bookend the upcoming weekend so even if you won’t be sampling some fabulous soups at least you can look forward to a day off with your sweetheart!

In Issue 550, the Canadian spirit preserved this week as events like the Women’s March and the BRVTA Winter Hike went on despite the weather and we have the photos to prove it! Of course the snowfall that accumulated in this the “snowbelt" was infinitesimal compared to what the residents of Newfoundland faced and for that may we be truly grateful…our thoughts are with them as they begin to dig out!
